Edited by: Xevan Templar on 25/07/2008 01:21:53 I just whatched this Characters & customizations and I have to say it's realy amazing for what is to come.
Especially when considering, game style wise, character interaction and space station environments are 'secondary' to piloting ships. Secondary quoted because as the way it goes it beats any MMO game that I have played sofar (WOW, LOTRO, AOC), and those are games that have 3D character interaction as a main play-system.
If this goes on the way it goes, hanging out in stations is gonna be a 'mini'-game initself. I can see myself sitting down in some fancy cafT while brouwsing the market. Or what to think of mayor meetings before some space conflict.
Thumbs up for the EVE def team

Well just going out would do
Anyways Im interested in what clothes you can wear. Would be awesome that if you have, say a very high standing with CONCORD, you could actualy walk in a CONCORD uniform. Or for any other faction for that manner. Bought most likely with LP (although CONCORD doesn't have LP, damn ;p)

That's the fatal flaw.
The problem people have with EvE is that they can't accept that space and the ship is the "world they live in." You can already move and view it. There's no world in a station. You're bang on about what people think they want. But that's the problem. They think they want it.
No one has been able to answer: Who are you going to ambulate with?
Over the next week look at the people you are talking with. Ask yourself the following questions. Are you docked? Are they docked? Are you both docked at the same station? If you answered no to any of them then your social interaction will not benefit from ambu.
It will make a good marketing point. But I expect high high churn on the new "walking" subscribers since there's nothing to do but walk.
You have much to learn young Padawan. You are stepping in the same trap here. It's your vision you discribe above, but that is 'your own personal viewpoint'. Others will see if differently. There is no universal right or wrong here. So there is no fatal flaw, besides you stepping into your own trap

No I don't. There is a universal right or wrong.
Outside ambulation is where game mechanics happen. That's where things happen. That makes it the world. Ambulation is merely housing.
That is your personal opinion. And you're completely free to state it. However, since it's your opinion it doesn't make it an universal opinion. Some people will agree with you, some don't. That's how things go.

To get back on topic, I watched 2007 fanfest again, and the costumes are great. However he didn't talk about faction standing uniforms.
So will faction standing uniforms implemented at the start, later on, or not at all? Would be nice to recognice other players when they have the same faction uniform. Creates abit of a bond so to say

It won't be implemented so much as do it your self.
I know what you mean, the game will start with a relativly small selection of clothes you can chose to begin with. People who begin/own a clothing shopp can get blueprints and will be able to produce 'new' clothes. He also mentioned dying clothes etc so shop owners can color clothes and such.
My question was if it is possible to get 'special' cloths/uniform/set from factions. You can buy alot of stuff, even ships, now using LP, and I would like to know if you can also buy clothing/uniform/sets from LP stores.

Now there there, I will not gonna scream 5 years in a row 'I want my Gallente Navy federation uniform'
I do however gonna try to put up a tattoo shop, however I think it was part of the Gallente plastic surgical store, but I could be mistaken.

Cheers.
The WoW Rogue speaks! And no you can't play Undead aka forsakken either.
On the other hand I would love to see though how the Station Concord MP squad ****s you up all over the place, then blows up the ship you got docked there, and then tear out your implants and shoots you in the head. Hey it's WoW with guns! Sounds great eh?

Second that. There will be no Real Time looking out windows as stated in the fanfest 2007 video, but a seperate view of the system might be possible. It would only depend on how much it will take to implement windows and said local space view. If the space-sphere pic causes to much lag in the stations it will probably be a no go. However a connection between the space station and the space surrounding it, even if it's on seperated servers, will give at least 'the feeling' you're still in the big EVE universe.

Great idea, however I did see in the fanfest move that they want to put a maximum of players per station/area. To keep the lag in ambulation in check. I think it was 40 or 60 in one specific area.
I myself have another question. Since it's almost certain you can have your own cafT or disco, will it be possible to have your own DJ? And could that cafT/disco get a music-channel, so all of EVE could pick their favorite DJ? Or 'skill train' your disco to a music station or whatever? (Probably with a maximum of channels). So you could see your favorite DJ in action and have dance party's or whatever.
